Tokyodo Int. K-10 Heavyweight Karate Gi

Dear Yumiko and Hamid, I'm not sure how aware you (and many people people in the market for new karategi) are of Tokoyodo International being the absolute best deal on the planet! What makes these dogis such a steal is the free hemming! Yes, Shureido also offers it. Tokyodo International is almost of the same exact cut as Shureido (the ever so slight differences are negligible), but costs 20% less. If you spend the extra money on a Shureido, all you're paying for is the label. To go into detail about the free hemming: sure, you can get a one-row stitched hem at your local alteration shop for $15, but you just ruined your dogi by doing this. To get the same hem that your dogi comes with, your local alteration shop will charge $40. And that's just for either the pants or the sleeves. Double that if you're getting both done. More often than not, you're going to at least need your pants hemmed (I believe the manufacturers err on the side of caution by making the pants "too long" for the stated heights of each size, as nothing can be done about pants that are too short). With the mid-range non-Japanese brand dogis (Kamikaze, for example), you will end up spending more on these after getting your pants hemmed (correctly) than you would on a Tokyodo International of the same weight. Even on brands where you may end up spending less (Mugen, for example), the overall cost difference won't break the bank (maybe $25). But that extra $25 gets you a much higher quality Japanese-made dogi. There is no other brand of dogi - whether the price is higher or lower - that gives you more bang for the buck than Tokyodo International.
